What ho, what ho, what ho!

I've been curious, ever since we started talking about languages and cultures: where are you lovely people from?

I'm from Tunisia (a tiny country in North Africa). My native language is Arabic, but I also speak French and - obviously - English.

A hearty right ho back! I‘m from Western Germany, so my mother tongue is German, but I‘m planning on moving to GB.
I also speak Russian and tiny bits of Latin and Italian.

Oh, and my mum‘s been to Tunisia in the 80s and she loved it, I always wanted to go there:)

Lucky you! I would love to live in the UK. I visited London five years ago and fell in love.

Really? That's awesome! You're more than welcome here, and if you ever do visit, I would be happy to show you around :)

New York City! I used to really want to move to London but it's expensive enough here already.

I speak a little French from school but I wish I had bothered to learn more.

Hello! Is this the place where we can post questions for the prompters?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-25 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think so, yes.

[personal profile] darenotspeakitsname 2019-05-25 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
That‘s nice! Fair warning though, I‘m obsessed with history and archaeology, so I‘m one of these tourists who run into every museum in eyesight:)

Wow, how's life in the Big Apple? All I know about NYC is from sitcoms like Friends and How I Met Your Mother lol

That's awesome, because I'm obsessed with history and archeology too and I'd be delighted to show you the best historical sites we have here and tell you all about our local mythology!

:D
If I ever have enough spare money, I‘ll rush southwards with all haste!
North African and Oriental culture and tribes have always fascinated me—and I love the food, hehe...

Oh, that was me, forgot to log in.

Sorry, I'm confused. Talking about the prompts is supposed to happen over there? Like when I want to contact the prompter to chat with them about their prompt because I'm not sure I got what they meant? I just want to be sure before I go spamming questions in the wrong place.

I think this is the right place to ask questions about the prompts, yes.
And if I'm not mistaken the prompts themselves should be posted on the Kinkiness thread.

your fandom story

How did you discover Jeeves and Wooster? Read the books? Watched the show? Done both? Been a fan of one of the actors or P.G. Wodehouse before or did it all start with the young master and his valet?

Well, I like Downton Abbey and a friend therefore recommended me Jeeves and Wooster. I watched the show and then bought all the books.
I have not the faintest idea how I ended up here though, I usually don‘t use the internet and don‘t even have a smartphone...

I’m an American, but have done quite a bit of traveling in the Pacific and Asia, and have also been to Egypt and Sudan. I speak English and a tiny bit of Arabic, and have studied French and German but am way more comfortable reading them than speaking them. I’ve also studied several ancient languages.

My mom had a nice little collection of the books when I was a kid, and she used to talk about how funny they were. I tried picking up Right Ho, Jeeves when I was about 10, but I guess the language threw me off—I just didn’t “get it”. I tried again a couple years later, and something clicked. I was hooked for life.

I used to read the books out loud to my parents and brother. It was a regular family ritual for a few weeks years. I recently revived the tradition with Aunts Aren’t Gentlemen, the only one we hadn’t yet read.

I didn’t see the show until about 10 years after I picked up the books. I was reluctant to even try it until I heard some music from the soundtrack. I’m very fond of it now and rewatch several of my fave episodes pretty frequently.

I got active in the actual fandom around 2010-ish, but I lurked for a few years before then.

When I was a kid I briefly lived in London. I discovered Wodehouse there. Two years ago I stumbled across this fandom. I watched the episodes on Youtube and re-read the books. On the Discord ffa #jeeves I met like-minded folks and on LJ's indeedsir. I've been a Jeeves junkie ever since!

What ho! I'm from Germany. I speak German and English. My English may not be as good as I would like it to be but I love the English language. When it comes to books, shows and films and I'm given the option I will always choose the English version over a German translation. I've been to the US five times and twice to the UK.

Guten Tag! Wie schön, dass Sie sich die Mühe gemacht haben, unsere Sprache zu lernen :)
