Confusingly, Public Schools are nothing of the sort. Generally, they are private fee-paying schools that educate the children of wealthy British parents. At precisely 7:30 he would take a large brass bell, ringing it loudly, and go to each dormitory threshold to wake up the other boys, shouting "Time half past seven!"
