Bertie and Jeeves are grateful they aren't visiting America this year.

There is a new entry in what_ho_library , "Below Stairs: Valets, Maids, And Other Domestic Servants".

It is a collection of links to historical resources about all aspects of servant life in the early 20th century England. Sources include Wikipedia, Jane Austen's World, A Victorian, Mrs. Beeton's Guide To Household Management, and many more.

Including quaffanddoff 's fic, Jackpot, which besides being an excellent fic, has detailed information of a servant's wages and other expenses.

Although it is mostly for Jeeves And Wooster fandom writers, it is also helpful to all writers of historical fic set in 1900-1930. More entries will be forthcoming on a variety of topics. So far we have an entry of timelines of sexual slang, thanks to belphegor , with much more to come.

So, I'm prepping a new P.G. Wodehouse community, devoted to historical and education resources. I'm thinking there should be a request post which is answered in a separate answer post. If you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear about them! Also, if members would want to occasionally volunteer to contribute information that would be welcome. The current name is berties_library  but if anyone can suggest a better name, please do! I screwed up seeing the results so only I can see them. Sorry!!

Monthly Challenge/Prompt FIll

There will be no monthly challenge this summer. In the meantime, glance through the prompts, read the fills, enjoy all of the bounteous creativity.

Summary:
In a somewhat darker hue, we look at how intensely lonely Bertie actually is and what fulfillment could come by just being honest with himself. The only question is how will Jeeves, who is bound by his professional obligations, react to a chance taken. What's more, when Aunt Agatha has a new proposition for marriage, what will they both do and what dangers await . . .


Reference Community

A sister community, as yet unnamed, will be created. It will be a historical reference library, with an emphasis on sex, of course. Also a post to ask questions, essays on Wodehouse (some by me but others as well), history from 1910-1940, and anything else that seems appropriate. I can't think of a name for it. Once you choose a name for a community, that's it. I've been having some trouble coming up with one.

Discord

The give_satisfaction Discord has been closed. I have some regrets, but it was a fun experiment. For Wodehouse you'll find me at Plum's Library, where there is a cafe' and a writing sprint channel. Also Exchanges After Dark, FailFandom_Anon, wip big bang, and several others. And I'll still be here and on Tumblr.

Summary: Jeeves and Wooster are usually content to keep a professional distance, physically at least, but when Wooster is finally released from quarantine after coming down with a bout of influenza, he's a little clingier than usual.

This isn't about the pandemic, but the author is writing a series of one-shots to help us get through this!

Now that we are all stuck indoors it's time for a Give Satisfaction Discord! It's been set up as a private server. I.E. you can join, but you can't see anything until your faithful mod gives you the role of Guild Member.  It is NSFW. The Discord will be very lightly modded unless someone else wants to share modding duties.

Over at The Lounge, a member suggested a give_satisfaction Discord. There are currently 3 Discords that your faithful mod knows about. Plum's Library, an archival site with a chat channel; World of Wodehouse, a site that covers a range of topics including Fry and Laurie, House, etc. However, the moderator is a minor, as are many of the members. If you're looking for squeaky-clean chat, that's the place. And The Drones Club. Disclaimer: I was banned from there last spring for posting Discord posts without permission. Dumb mistake. So I don't know what channels they have there which would be applicable and this server might be unnecessary.

Sooo, your faithful mod doesn't know what a gs Discord would look like. A chat channel, a nsfw chat channel, fic recs...discussions about writing, historical resources...any suggestions welcome!
